If you’re new to the Vantage FX MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform, then you no doubt have some questions that you need answered.
Here is a list of the top 10 most common MT4 questions that we receive:
1. Can I access my Vantage FX MT4 account via mobile or the web?
Yes, you can.
There are multiple ways to log in and trade from your Vantage FX MT4 account. We offer our clients the ability to log in while on the go through the official MetaQuotes mobile app, as well as through the WebTrader and MarketTrader online platforms.
Simply navigate to the the Platforms menu and make your selection.
2. What server time does the Vantage FX MT4 platform run on?
Confirmation of this can be found in the MarketWatch section of your Vantage FX MT4 platform with our live server time displayed at the top.
Knowing the server time is imperative for some EAs which require the GMT offset to be manually entered.
3. Can this server time be changed if I want to?
No, it can’t.
The MT4 platform itself does not allow the server time to be changed through the standard interface.
If you have downloaded a custom indicator that does this, then we highly recommend you delete it, as your platform will no longer line up with our servers and serious trading problems may arise as a result.
4. Does MT4 display the bid or the ask price?
By default, MT4 displays the bid price.
However, by navigating to the properties section of your platform, you are able to also add the ask line to your charts as well.
For the best results, Set both the bid and ask lines to display as different colours so you don’t get confused between the two.
5. Why can’t I see all markets in the Vantage FX MT4 Market Watch?
They’re all there. They’re just hidden.
If you can’t see all of the forex, commodities and indices markets that Vantage FX offer, all you have to do to display them again is to right click inside your Market Watch window and then click show all.
You’ll then be able to access and trade all of the markets we offer.
6. Why do I get charged a higher swap rate on forex positions on Wednesday?
It’s from the weekend.
Swap involves pushing back the value date on the underlying futures contract. On Wednesday, this date changes from Friday to Monday.
You are therefore charged swap for the extra 2 weekend days here.
7. What does the message ‘invalid account’ mean?
Are you seeing this on a Vantage FX live or demo account?
Live: You have entered an incorrect login or password. Simply contact us and we will instantly reset your password.
Demo: Your 30 day demo has expired. Open a live account or contact us to discuss opening another demo account.
8. What does the message ‘trade context is busy’ mean?
The platform is trying to process two orders at the same time.
In order to resolve this issue, simply close and restart your MT4 trading platform.
9. Can I open more than one Vantage FX MT4 trading account?
Yes, you can.
If you already have one account with Vantage FX, then simply log in to the secure client portal and click the request an additional MT4 account button.
If there are no problems, our accounts team will approve your request within 24 hours.
10. Can I download another Vantage FX MT4 platform?
Yes, you can.
If you’ve lost the installation file or want to install MT4 on a new computer, simply log in to the secure client portal and navigate to the downloads tab.
